10 Questions a Potential Color Street Stylist Might Ask

1.) Do I have to keep inventory?

Absolutely not. That’s one of the advantages of joining Color Street. After purchasing the initial starter kit for $129.00 (pictured below) . You don’t have to buy any more inventory if you don’t want to.

Here’s what’s in the kit:

Includes everything  you need to become an Independent Stylist and hit the ground running (actually you don’t even need to wait for the kit and many stylists don’t) :

  • 13 Full sets of nail strips
  • 1 French, 2 Solid, 2 Glitter, 5 Design, 1 Pedi, and 2 Petite sets
  • 72 Testers
  • 40 remover pads (2 boxes)
  • 100 Prep Pads (1 box)
  • 2 Large Nail Files
  • 2 Nail Buffers
  • 60 Mini Files
  • 50 Cuticle Sticks
  • Tote bag
  • Catalogs, Road to Success, Other Training Tools & Order Forms

Shoppers can buy directly from your Color Street replicated website before your kit even arrives and you can also set up an online party through the website. However, stylists go to vendor events to sell, meet new contacts, and build relationships. So we like to have some inventory on hand in case anyone wants to make a purchase at an event. If you choose to keep inventory, how much you have on hand is entirely up to you.

The other nice part about it is that the nail strips are small and light and super easy to carry around. If you sell from your own stock, make sure you have some sort of sticker on the nail strip with your info so that the customer can get back in touch with you if they have questions or would like to order more.

2.) Am I required to have a minimum dollar amount of sales each month?

The short answer is no. But there is a requirement within a 6 month  period to stay active. We have something called Bonus Qualifying (BQ for short). When you BQ for the month, it means you have at least $300.00 in sales. In order to be considered active, you must BQ once in a 6 month period. In my opinion really not a difficult thing to do with such an awesome product.

3.) What about International Sales?

Currently Color Street is only shipping to the United States. There are plans to expand to Canada in the very near future. Expansions to other countries are also planned.

4.) How long has Color Street been around?

Color Street is a fairly young company. It was launched in June of 2017.

5.) Any other fees?

There is a monthly charge of $9.95 after your first  month for ongoing sales and marketing materials, including back office accounting, training updates, the replicated website and communication tools. Also you will minimally want to have business cards made which can be ordered through your Color Street website or on your own from places like Vistaprint usually at a discount.  At some point you will run out of two finger samples and want to order more of those too. So you will probably be ordering business supplies from time to time.

6.) What does bonus qualified or BQ mean?

Bonus qualified means that a stylist has met a goal of $300 in sales or personal volume (also known as PV) for the month. This is not required each month, but in order to remain active, the Stylist must achieve BQ ($300 PV) in one month within a 6 month period .

7.) What about Income? How does commission work?

You can also poke around the site here. How much you make depends very much on how much you put into it and varies from person to person.

8.) What is Jump Start?

These are incentives to help a new stylist get a strong start by offering special perks for early accomplishments. JumpStart rewards, both cash and product credits, are earned in the first 95 days.  For example,In your first 35 Days

Sell $1,000 PV (plus BQ in the month you hit $1,000) get $50 product credit

Enroll 1 qualified Stylist (plus BQ yourself) that month, get $50 product credit

There are more Jump Starts for 95 days and so on, but the above is just an example.

9.) How are stylists paid?

Stylists are paid a Base Commission of 25% of Personal Volume (PV) or sales on a weekly basis. There is an enhanced commission of 3% paid out monthly when you reach $600 in PV and 5% when you reach $1200 and so on. Weekly commission is deposited on Thursday, and monthly within 1 – 5 business days of the end of the month.

The money is direct deposited for you through the Color Street Pay Portal into whichever one of the following you choose:  personal bank accounts, PayPal or a Color Street debit card. My opinion – the Color Street debit card is really cool. It’s a great conversation starter for your business and it allows you to track your business finances separately.

10.) I’m interested in becoming a stylist, love the product but not sure if I can do it.

There is a ton of training available to stylists. We have an awesome team made up of amazing, supportive woman across the country who wish not only to succeed but help each other excel. We celebrate each other and answer all sorts of questions well without judging. There are extensive new stylist trainings and Facebook groups that walk you through every step of the way.

    Do stylists have a limit on the number of the same style of nails they can purchase? Such as you can only order 2 of one style?

      Yes, currently only 2 of the same style can be ordered at one time. It was put in place when many of the Covid 19 safety precautions were implemented limiting production and I believe it is temporary.

    As a stylist, what are you allowed to do to promote your business? Can you have a Facebook group, buy Facebook ads with a link to your online portal, Instagram, discuss on Linked In? I’m just curious what vehicles to get the word out using social media is acceptable. With the pandemic and all, social media is our friend! Can you hold demos using Facebook Live, or watch parties, so on and so forth.

      You can have a Facebook group and have specials as long as it’s private. You can promote on Facebook or other places but you can’t discount or have paid advertising in any public spaces.

    Which facebook groups do you suggest for someone who hasn’t even purchased the starter kit? The VIP group I see only posts different nail sets that are available and has nothing on how to do a good job selling nails.

      I would suggest getting advice from your upline/sponsor once you purchase the kit. They can give you the best advice for your team.
