Get Your Own Summer Inspired Jelly Nails Now

As temperatures soar and you are thinking about vacation, it’s also time to refresh your nail look with a fun and playful summer trend – jelly nails!

Jelly nails are all about embracing bold, translucent colors that resemble the appearance of  jelly, hence the name. So whether you’re headed to the beach or simply want an eye-catching look, jelly nails are the perfect way to let you be you.

Let’s “dive” into the world of jelly nails, their origins and how you can get some stunning ideas to inspire you this season.

The Origin of Jelly Nails

Jelly nails first gained popularity on the nail art scene in the late 2010s.  However, in recent years they have truly exploded in popularity. Because they are inspired by the nostalgic jelly sandals of the ’90s, these translucent nails have become a favorite among the fashion-forward. Happily, you can experiment with a wide range of colors and designs.

Achieving the Perfect Jelly Nails at Home

Gel Liquid Polish

In order to create jelly nails using gel liquid polish, you’ll need a few tools and techniques. You can achieve this translucent effect by using a clear or sheer colored gel polish as a base. You should always make sure your nails are clean and properly prepped by removing any old nail polish and then shaping them as you like.

Next, apply a clear or sheer gel base coat, and cure it under a UV or LED lamp according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Lastly, once set, it’s time to unleash your creativity by adding layers of colorful jelly-like gel polishes. And don’t forget to cure each layer of gel polish under the lamp before moving on to the next.

Dry Nail Polish Strips

If you’re pressed for time or you don’t want to use gel polish with a UV lamp, there’s an easy alternative. Color Street’s 100% real nail polish strips are the way to go.

They are easy to do at home and their recently launched Jelly collection called “So Jelly” offers a whole rainbow of colors to choose from.  Simply apply the strips to your clean nails and go. You don’t have to wait for them to dry or cure and you don’t need any tools. You can check them out on my Color Street website here.
